Started my beach sunset photo series this weekend with a trip to La Jolla California. My wife and I scouted out a great location during the day and then came back later to catch the sunset. La Jolla has a lot of rock formations that lead up to the water. These formations have small tide pools which can be as small as seen here. I was very fortunate to have captured a surfer in the photo. This trip was a great experience and a great way to start off a tour of some of the great California beaches at sunset. Hopefully I will head off to another beach in the next couple of weekends.

I used my Nikon D7100 camera body with a Nikon 14-24mm wide angle lens. I used a graduated neutral density filter in order to lower the light level of the bright sky.
